The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is coming this month to selected markets and while it didn’t turn out to be the iPhone 5 killer we’d hope, it has its surprises.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean preloaded
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini was suppose to only swap the massive 4.8-inch display found in the normal S3 for a smaller 4-inch display that matches the iPhone 5. Unfortunately Samsung went much further than that. You have a 5-megapixel camera instead of 8MP, a 1GHz dual-core processor versus the 1.4GHz quad-core, 1GB RAM instead of 2, and the disappointing resolution.
Nevertheless, all these cuts have lead to the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini becoming a mid-range device hence should be much cheaper on contract than the normal Samsung Galaxy S3. And to add to this, there is one saving grace – it comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
This is usually a worry for many buyers when they purchase a mid-range smartphone – you never know if you will get the next Android update. Thankfully Samsung has launched it with JB out of the box. Here’s hoping it comes for $50 on contract and then you have a good offering. But I must say, it was sneaky of Samsung to tack on the S3 name.
