Samsung could soon be adding another flagship handset to their line-up that will be in competition with the iPhone 5 from Apple. PopHerald reports that a rumour has been going around that they will launch a smaller Samsung Galaxy S3 to attract those who like the S3 but who want something that is easier to carry in the pocket.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini to take on iPhone 5 later this month (rumor)
So it is thought that this new device will be announced by Samsung on 11th October as the invitation has the tag line of something along the lines of “something small will be big” and “little sensation”.
While the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 appear matched when it comes to specs, the most common complaint iPhone users have against the S3 is that it may be a little too big for some hands.
Chances are that Samsung have now realised that the 4.8 inch display of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is both an advantage and a weakness. However for the time being they are keeping quiet. It is rumoured that the smaller Samsung Galaxy S3 would have a screen to match that of the iPhone 5 at 4 inches. This was the size Samsung used on the Galaxy S and the Nexus S, before they enlarged their displays to as big as 5.5-inches (Samsung Galaxy Note 2).
At the moment the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the biggest rival to the iPhone 5 with sales continuing to show its popularity, despite the launch of the iPhone 5. Samsung said that the S3 is on track to beat the 30 million mark that was estimated by the end of 2012.
The iPhone 5 on the other hand has sold more than 5 million units and there will be many millions more sold on the run up to the holidays. We’ll keep you posted as more develops on the rumored Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
