The Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 has started to roll out to customers on Sprint in November, followed by T-Mobile more recently. However many owners of the devices are angry that they haven’t yet got notification weeks on.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update: how to trigger it now
If you want to push the process of the Jelly Bean update to your Samsung Galaxy S3 then it is possible as you can force the OTA update to Jelly Bean 4.1. The steps to do so are very simple and you could install the update in next to no time without having to wait for your turn on the carrier’s rollout.
Simply go into settings on your Samsung Galaxy S3 S3 and choose Application Manager.
Choose the tab that says All Apps.
Scroll down until you see Google Services Framework and click
Click Clear Data and then choose Force Stop. When you do this you will clear data and perform the force stop and then the device will refresh the device state and that of the service. This causes the phone to look for updates.
Go back to Settings and click on System Update. Choose Update Samsung Software and the date should show the last date checked and not 12/31/1969. This will ensure that the device is at the front to receive the OTA update notification.
Click on Check Now and your handset should get the update message.
You could have to do this more than once. The majority of Samsung Galaxy S3 users have said that it takes a couple of times before they have seen the notification for the Android Jelly Bean update. So if you do click Check Now and you don’t get anything, repeat the steps again.
