It was just a few weeks ago when we found that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would be getting the update to Jelly Bean and the Galaxy Note 2 would come with the OS preinstalled.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update still hasn’t rolled out
While we knew it was coming, at this time we didn’t know exactly when. There was a rumor that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would get it in the third quarter or early in the fourth. Of course the Note 2 was expected to be revealed at the IFA and it was and it has Jelly Bean on it. Then we found out that the S3 would get the Jelly Bean update from the 29th following the launch of the Note 2. However the 29th came and went and the Note 2 has been released, but there was no mention of the update for the Galaxy S3.
So what happened? Samsung announced again earlier this week that the update was just around the corner, suggesting that because it is such a widely bought device there maybe some major preparations going on for its global rollout. Based on previous Android update rollouts by Samsung, we can expect that the update will be available to users in Europe and Asia and they should get the update OTS or through KIES. North America should only follow sometime after.
So while there is no Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean update roll out yet, we’re going to take Samsung’s word that it really is just around the corner and keep an eye on the Asian and European market. It could trickle down to those devices as early as tomorrow for all we know.
