With the iPhone 5 now rumored to only be weeks away from its official unveiling on September 12, all eyes are on what will be a battle of epic proportions between the Apple phone and its biggest rival – the Samsung Galaxy S3.
One thing iPhone 5 can’t take from Samsung Galaxy S3 – first with HD VoLTE
Looking at the supposed leaked specs of the iPhone 5, it seems like Apple may be able to match the Samsung Galaxy S3 in just about every way. This includes the 8-megapixel camera, quad-core processor, increase in display size, bigger battery, 4G LTE connectivity and even NFC support.
However there is one thing the iPhone 5 won’t be able to take away from the Samsung Galaxy S3, that is being the world’s first HD VoLTE smartphone.
Samsung confirmed that it will be launching the Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) with Korean opertaor SK Telecom. A global launch is expected to follow shortly but no timeline has been officially confirmed just yet. Instead Samsung only had this to say about international Samsung Galaxy S3 units – the Korean Samsung Galaxy S3 will be “followed by availability in global LTE markets.”
“We will continue to work to quickly roll out VoLTE enabled products globally, providing the best LTE experience for our customers across the world,” said JK Shin, Samsung’s Mobile Communications President.
