While the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been the most pre-ordered handsets this year, it still has a fair bit of way to go to catch up to the iPhone 4S, never mind the iPhone 5.
Forget iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 beats own Nexus but nowhere near 4S yet
Ad firm Chitika announced that Samsung sales had risen following the launch of the Galaxy S3 in the US and the S3 did help them to gain more recognition in the smartphone market. It also says that it is still behind the iPhone 4S.
This report was the conclusion of a study held over 18th June to 5th August 2012 of mobile ad impressions. The study showed that the Samsung Galaxy S3 was already ahead of the Galaxy Nexus, the handset was launched around the same time as the iPhone 4S. It shows that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has around 11.23% of web usage.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with 2GB of RAM, a display of 1280 x 720 and a large 2100mAh battery. It does not match the popularity of the iPhone 4S but it is the closest rival that Apple has – it generates 0.24 impressions for each that the iPhone 4S has on the Chitika network. So basically, it is 4 times less than the iPhone 4S at this time.
Apple are of course getting ready to launch the iPhone 5 in September and this will make for a very interesting time in the world of smartphones. There has been some criticism about Apple’s minor upgrade last year, the iPhone 4 to the 4S, and everyone is expecting Apple to give us something special with the release of the iPhone 5. At the moment though the iPhone 4S is still holding its own in the market, despite new releases from other manufacturers. If the iPhone 5 does in fact launch next month then the chances the Galaxy S3 has to continue gaining grounds may hit a brick wall.
