Many people rely on a backup handset in case they do something to theirs and break it or it simply stops working. If you haven’t got a backup handset there are some great bargains out there, so perhaps it’s time to get one and good choices are the Nexus 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is still a great device even though it came out in 2012 and the Nexus 5 followed on in 2013. Developers still love both devices and keep them up to date. While Nougat may not be out yet, Marshmallow is and this is superb.
The Nexus 5 gets updates due to the fact that it is simply a Nexus handset. You should get updates for the device over the next few years. It doesn’t offer up the removable battery as the Samsung Galaxy S3 but it does offer up a battery of 2,300mAh and the S3 has the 2,100mAh battery.
Both of the handsets are easy to fix along with being cost effective and iFixit gave them a score of 8 out of 10 for reparability. So as both devices offer software support and hardware that is fuss free, it is well worth considering the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Nexus 5 as your backup handsets.
