Samsung are not known for getting updates out very fast, however with Jelly Bean they seem to be on their toes as they are rolling it out in what has to be record time for them for the Samsung Galaxy S3. It also seems that the update will soon be rolling out for the previous generation Galaxy S2.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update waiting for its turn behind S3
A lot of people think that the Samsung Galaxy S2 would get the Jelly Bean update once owners of the Galaxy S3 had it around the globe. The S3 and S2 will not be the only devices to get Jelly Bean however as it seems that the Note will coming along around the same time. It will have to wait behind the Galaxy S2 though and confirmation has come from Samsung around Europe regarding this.
Samsung in Denmark said through Facebook that they would be updating the Samsung Galaxy S2 to Jelly Bean 4.1 at some point in November. However this month has passed and there is no sign of it yet. Samsung in Sweden said that the update would come sometime during Q4, we are now in December so it must be now or never. Canadian networks have also said the same, so it looks like if they stick to their word, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 might get Jelly Bean in time for Christmas.
So if everything goes to plan the Jelly Bean update rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S3 should be over before we go into 2013. Verizon of course don’t have the Samsung Galaxy S2 so there is no problem about them getting it out even if they don’t clear the S3 before December. So it’s down to Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile to do for the Samsung Galaxy S2 what they did for the Galaxy S3 and that is to get the update to Jelly Bean out to customers before we cross in to a new year.
