Samsung are known to not rush in regards to getting out updates for Android. However it seems as though they could be turning over a new leaf as they are rolling out Jelly Bean to owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 pretty fast. They are also promising Jelly Bean to owners of the Galaxy S2 before the year is up.
Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update right behind the S3
It is thought that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 may get the update to Jelly Bean not long behind owners of the Galaxy S3 get their hands on it, or whatever units are still remaining (e.g. Verizon, AT&T). The Jelly Bean update will also come out for the Samsung Galaxy Note, however this will reportedly not happen before it is released for the Galaxy S2. It is thought that this may happen in December and confirmation of this happening has come by way of Samsung Europe.
GadgetInsiders said that over in Denmark, Samsung had said through Facebook that the Samsung Galaxy S2 would be getting the update to Jelly Bean in November. However November has gone. In Sweden, Samsung haven’t given an exact time for the update, instead they said that it would happen in Q4. This means that it will be December, if they stick to their word. The Canadian carriers have also said the same, which if it happens, would mean everyone would get it in 2012.
If everyone sticks to plans then the Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3 rollout of Jelly Bean would be complete within the month. Verizon do not have the Samsung Galaxy S2, so it is only AT&T who concerns us as to whether or not they will offer the update before the end of the year. Both of these carriers are at the moment lagging behind other US carriers with the update for the new Samsung Galaxy S3 model. For now all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that Sprint and T-Mobile will offer the update to Jelly Bean to owners of the Galaxy S2 before Christmas just like others are promising around the world.
