The Samsung Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update started rolling out in January. It arrived in North America first when Canadian carriers rolled out the update to users. Today, another carrier beat U.S. carriers to the punch as Three UK has announced that its Galaxy S2 is currently receiving its upgrade from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The update is available through Samsung Kies, the software that Samsung owners can use to upgrade their device through the PC.
Android 4.1 contains a number of new Android features including a faster UI, Google Now, improved stock Google applications like Calendar and Browser and more.
Three UK have become the latest Samsung Galaxy S2 carrier to hand out the Galaxy S2′s Jelly Bean update and with it all the features it brings including the new TouchWiz Nature UX user interface that comes with the Samsung Galaxy S3.
So far the US carriers that have the Samsung Galaxy S2, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon have not yet confirmed any updates for their version of the device and due this we have no idea when it may come. It will arrive at some point there is no doubt, but when is another thing.
This may be the last major Android update to come to the Samsung Galaxy S2 as the handset is getting old, it has its two year birthday coming up soon, however at the moment an upgrade to Android 4.2 cannot be ruled out as there has been no official news.
