Just when you thought that Samsung had done themselves proud with the Samsung Galaxy S3 then announce the release of another device with an even larger display. If you want to get your hands on Samsung’s latest device then you had better get larger pockets as the Galaxy Player is a whopping 5.8 inches of 960 x 540 LCD. This makes the display of the Galaxy S3, which is 4.8 inch, look small in comparison. It also makes the Samsung Galaxy Note look small by comparison.
Forget Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Player gets massive 5.8-inch screen
The media player device is loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the TouchWiz interface and is aimed at those who like to watch movies and read books on their device. It will be available with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage and there is room for expansion by way of MicroSD. The media player also has a camera on the front and comes with a 2500mAh battery just like the Samsung Galaxy Note.
At the moment there is no indication of the processor speed or when the Galaxy Player is likely to be launched. However there are rumors that the device will be launched at the IFA 2012 alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which is set to start later this week.
Do you think your pockets can handle something as big as the Samsung Galaxy Player? I personally drew the line at the Samsung Galaxy Note and rumors of the Note 2 getting a 5.5-inch display is already pushing it in my books. Anything larger and you might as well be looking at tablets like the Google Nexus 7.
