Samsung have unveiled the Galaxy Grand which is a doppleganger of the popular Samsung Galaxy S3 but with a bigger 5-inch display. However despite its big name, it has received a small ovation due to its mid-range specs.
Samsung Galaxy Grand matches Galaxy S3 looks but not specs
The Samsung Galaxy Grand comes with Jelly Bean 4.1.2. The handset has a WVGA resolution, which offers 480 x 800 pixels. This resolution is typically seen on handsets that have displays of around 4 inches. Devices with larger displays, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3, typically have displays of around 1280 x 720. This means that the Samsung Galaxy Grand will come with a ppi that is considerably lower.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand is a mid-range device and it has the 1.2GHz dual core processor. However the handset can run most of the features that are found in the high end Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2. This includes Samsung hubs, direct call, S Voice and direct call.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand will be on the shelves with dual SIM, so it is aimed at those who travel. It is said that there will be a single SIM version of the device to follow.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand specs include a camera of 8 megapixel, support for DLNA, a battery of 2100mAh, and it will support HSPA+21Mbps broadband connectivity for mobiles. The device is said to come with 8GB of internal storage, with SD card support, and it will have 1GB of RAM.
At the moment Samsung have not put out a release date or price.
