The president of Sony, Kaz Hirai, is content to make the same mistake that they made when they launched the PS3 and that is hold the launch off until Microsoft launch their next gen Xbox – the Xbox 720. So it’s a case of you show me yours and I’ll show you mine.
The Times said: Why go first, when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?
It seems then that both the PS4 and Xbox 720 have almost been finalised and experts have been waiting for the official announcements, which may be made in June at the E3. However this is now not looking very likely.
Sony released the PS3 one year after Microsoft launched the Xbox 360. The PS3 came out in 2006 and Microsoft has already enjoyed a lead and sold 10 million units. The Nintendo Wii was also revealed around the same time the PS3 was revealed and by the end of 2007 it had put the other consoles in the shadows, proving that raw processing power wasn’t the be all and end all in the market.
