Recent weeks have seen a real change in the attitudes of PS3 fans towards Skyrim. Xbox 360 owners have three lots of DLC more than the PS3 owners, but patient PS3 players are about to be rewarded, as Dragonborn is making its way to the console sometime this month. Dawnguard and Hearthfire will be following before much longer.
Skyrim Dawnguard, Dragonborn & Hearthfire DLC for PS3: “cherishing” the wait
So, PS3 owners are still waiting for the DLC, and some have been really annoyed by the delays. However, I’ve played more than 350 hours on Skyrim on the PS3 and I’ve had a great time, DLC or no DLC.
Players of Skyrim on the PC have modding capacity, but they’re slow to get their hands on the DLC, apparently. Xbox 360 owners get the DLC, but can’t mod. PS3 owners don’t have the DLC at all, and have been left feeling out in the cold.
So, each platform has a beef of some sort about Skyrim. What people need to remember is that Skyrim is an awesome game with or without add-ons. If you’re still hanging around waiting for the DLC, stop and consider just how much fun you’ve had so far, even before your got DLC-envy.
Obviously we still want DLC on the PS3, but as it’s coming soon, you’ll be rewarded for your long wait. Pete Hines of Bethesda has been really sympathetic towards PS3 owners, and is still promising to keep them informed about DLC release dates.
One of the problems for PS3 owners has been the DLC hype-disappointment cycle. People get worked up and excited, only to be let down and despondent. This has made it easy to lose perspective.
