Recent weeks have seen a real shift in attitude towards Skyrim on the PS3. The Xbox 360 Skyrim has three lots of DLC more than the PS3, but PS3 owners will be delighted to know that Bethesda is on the case and that the DLC is heading to them in early 2013, with Dragonborn first up.
Lack of DLC for PS3 Skyrim users doesn’t mean game a total loss
Skyrim on the PS3 doesn’t have Hearthfire, Dawnguard or Dragonborn. However, after some 350 hours on PS3 Skyrim, I’m really pleased with the game, and so are many others.
The PC version of Skyrim has loads of mods and DLC, but some PC owners say that the DLC isn’t out fast enough. Xbox 360 players get the DLC, but not the mods. PS3 Skyrim fans don’t have Dawnguard or any other DLC right now, and do feel left out.
It looks like every platform has a beef with Skyrim, but the fact remains that this game is absolutely top-notch whether you have the DLC or not. You’ll get hundreds of hours of play out of it even without DLC, and that means brilliant value for money.
Skyrim fans have forgotten this aspect, it seems. This may be because of the well-publicised cycle of DLC hype followed by let down. If you’re still hankering after Dawnguard, Hearthfire or Dragonborn, just remember the fun you’ve had on Skyrim anyway.
Of course we still want all the DLC on the PS3, but most of us aren’t about to ditch our consoles in return for an Xbox 360 for it. Bethesda’s Pete Hines recently tweeted that he felt for PS3 owners, and that he’d let them know what was going on – and when – as soon as he was able.
