Starbreeze Studios has frequently showcased their upcoming OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead at numerous events, shortly after it was introduced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) back in June 2015. And now they’ve just released a confirmation that the title will be made available to the public in 2017.
This fantastic news is part of an announcement that sees Starbreeze Studios having received investment from Smilegate and penning an agreement for the release of the formers’ upcoming titles in Asia, under the latter’s guidance. What we’ll be expecting out of the partnership is that Starbreeze Studios would receive a 10-year right to develop, publish and distribute an all-new first-person video game on Smilegate’s CROSSFIRE franchise for western markets, which will see Asian editions of the OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead launching really soon.
There’s also claims suggesting that although OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead was unveiled as a virtual reality (VR) exclusive title, there isn’t any mention of the proprietary head-mounted display (HMD) made during the announcement. We’ll keep you posted on the updates.
