The biggest battle of smartphones is taking place between the Apple and Samsung right now, however Nokia have also entered it with their Lumia 920, WP8’s current flagship. The Lumia 920 was announced a few weeks ago and is set to be released on 2nd November. But how will it stand up to the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is already out?
Nokia Lumia 920 vs Samsung Galaxy S3
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 and it weighs in at 185 grams. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the larger display at 4.8 inches and it offers 1280 x 720 resolution and weighs in at 133 grams. The display on the S3 is Super AMOLED, while that of the Lumia 920 is PureMotion HD+. In this category the Nokia Lumia 920 has the advantage with its higher ppi and more sharper colors.
The camera on the Nokia Lumia 920 has the advantage over that of the Samsung Galaxy S3. The back camera is 8.7 megapixels which offer a resolution of 3264 x2448 and the S3 has a camera of 8 megapixels, which offers the same resolution photos. However the Lumia 920 performed much better than the Galaxy S3 in low light shots.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has support for SD card up to 64GB while the Nokia Lumia 920 lacks this option. Internally the S3 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions while the Lumia 920 has just the 32GB option. With the S3 having the SD card and higher internal storage options, it comes out the winner.
Battery wise the Lumia 920 has a 2000mAh battery and the Samsung Galaxy S3 a 2100mAh. For talk time the S3 offers up to 11.4 hours and the Lumia around 10 hours. The winner here is the S3 by a slight margin.
Both of the devices have support for 2G and 3G and also 4G LTE.
Both handsets also have NFC, WLAN at 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with the Samsung Galaxy S3 having Bluetooth 4.0 and the Lumia 920 3.1.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the Exynos quad core 1.4GHz processor Cortex A9 and the Lumia 920 has the dual core 1.5GHz Snapdragon. However in the US they are equally matched given that the S3 has the same dual-core Snapdragon. It does however have 2GB RAM.
There are numerous choices for color with the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. The S3 comes in pebble blue, marble white, amber brown, garnet red, titanium grey and sapphire black. There is also talks of a pink version coming. The Lumia 920 is available in black, white, red, and grey and yellow. The S3 is the winner as they offer more color options.
Overall the Samsung Galaxy S3 does seem to be the better of the duo as it has more to offer.
