The Nokia Lumia 920 was being heralded as the “Next iPhone” when it was first unveiled many months back. The reason for this was its excellent camera, breathtaking LCD display and ultra-responsive touchscreen coupled to an easy-to-learn OS.
Nokia Lumia 920 vs iPhone 5
However it hasn’t faired so well when it comes to sales and is no threat to the iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S3. Of course that doesn’t mean it isn’t as good. Recently Mark Cuban participated in Reddit’s AMA session to answer some questions about his smartphone preferences.
Cuban said that he had a couple of phones including an Android, iOS and Windows Phone. He went on to state that he recently replaced his iPhone 5 with the Nokia Lumia 920 however:
I have a MacBook Air, but am trying the new Acer with Windows 8. I really, really like Windows 8 on my phone. I have 2 phones. First is Samsung, the 2nd was an iPhone 5. The new Nokia with windows replaced my iPhone 5.
When a Redditor asked Cuban why he dumped his iPhone 5 for a Nokia Lumia 920, Cuban simply said that the Nokia Lumia 920, “crushes the iPhone 5”.
While I do agree that the Nokia Lumia 920 has some merits over the iPhone 5 such as the larger display and better low-light camera capabilities, I wouldn’t go so far as to say it crushes the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 camera holds its own in when it comes to apps, exterior design and web browsing capabilities (while I dislike Safari, IE is further behind).
