Nokia will be revealing a new line up of Windows Phone Lumia handsets for 2013. TheVerge reports that a source who is familiar with Nokia said that they are planning on moving to a construction of aluminium for at least one of the new Lumia Windows Phones, which will be in the high end category, which is to be launched this year.
Nokia Lumia 920 successorto be thinner & lighter like iPhone 5?
This means that Nokia will make the move away from the old polycarbonate body and the devices will have the codename of Catwalk. The handsets will be lighter and thinner than the Nokia Lumia 920 currently on the market from Nokia.
Nokia are also said to be going to release an additional two Lumia devices as part of the line-up for this year. The catwalk handset will be the successor to the Nokia Lumia 920 and it will replace the Windows Phone 8 flagship device currently on the market, having similar hardware.
When Nokia make the move back to aluminium devices they will be similar to the days before Nokia were using Windows Phone, they will be more like the N8, which was their first Symbian 3 handset in vibrant colours. Nokia will be able to compete with the likes of the Apple iPhone 5 when it comes to weight and size. This was something that they could not achieve with the polycarbonate body of the Nokia Lumia 920. Let’s face it, the Nokia Lumia 920 looks twice as thick as an iPhone 5 right now.
