Pokemon has done the world of good for the Nintendo 3DS as when Pokemon X&Y first arrived on the scene sales of the console rose. On the launch of Pokemon Sun and Moon the sales blew up even more.
So it seems that Pokemon is still as huge today as when the game first arrived on the market. It has been said that in Japan alone 1.6 million copies of Pokemon Sun & Moon have been sold. This means that it is ten times the amount of copies sold as those of the second most sold game, which was Pokemon Sun and Moon Double Pack.
Sales of the Nintendo 3DS XL in Japan were up to 81,000 this week compared to 20,000 from the week before and this means it took the top spot among hardware. All versions of the Nintendo 3DS enjoyed an increase in sales, the 2DS and new version of the 3DS doubled in sales.
When Pokemon X&Y came out the game sold two million copies during the first week of it being on sale and sales of the 3DS doubled to 242,000. So could it be that people are just buying the Nintendo 3DS just so they can play the Pokemon games?
