It seems that the wait is over for the fix to the disconnect issue with the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X when on Android Nougat. The update had been causing disconnect issues with WiFi on the handsets but the Android team has now said that the Future Release is today and will be launched in the next monthly update.
The issue was first pointed out by a user in August when the Nexus 5X disconnects on its own from WiFi randomly. The handset then doesn’t recognise the WiFi network even after rebooting it. It would continue to search for networks and just drain the battery down.
Some owners of the Nexus 6P said that following the update to NPF26F the issue was fixed for them, but others said not. However, when the next batch of updates does make its way out it should fix the issue for everyone.
In the meantime if you are suffering from the disconnection of WiFi you might want to try putting the WiFi to always on. Go to settings and then WiFi and choose Keep WiFi on during sleep and then choose always.
