Google is going the same way as other phone makers in that when they first start up they want to create only the best handsets, but once they get a lot of fans they then start to disappoint those fans. This is happening to owners of the Nexus 6 and the 6P as owners are feeling left out.
In the past Google got together with some of the best tech manufacturers and came up with some handsets branded with the Nexus name. Google made a name for themselves with the Nexus brand but now they are going it alone with the Pixel handsets. While there is nothing wrong with branching out, the issue lies when they forget about the Nexus branding and just concentrate on the Pixel.
Fans are upset as Google stopped making the Nexus handsets and they also stopped sending out software updates for some of them. Luckily those with the Nexus 6 and 6P still get updates, but Google has failed to offer them the full Nougat experience. They have done this as they are not offering Daydream support or even the AI assistant.
They are doing this of course as they want people to update their handsets to the Google Pixel ones, which are more expensive than the Nexus, and for this Google should be ashamed of themselves.
It is going to be interesting to see if Google takes the same approach with the Pixel handsets once they bring out a newer handset. Will those with the Pixel get left behind? We think they just might.
