The Nexus 5X has now been given the sweet taste of Android 7.1 Nougat but it has had to get it through the back door.
The Google Nexus 5X managed to get the Nougat update by way of CM14.1, which is a nightly build. There are some issues with it but it does mean that the handset gets most of the Nougat features.
There are some things to take into account before you install the ROM onto the device and you should have at least 80% battery life on the handset. You should also have rooted the device and you will need USB debugging enabled and CWM or TWRP installed on the device.
You need to download CM14.1 ROM onto your computer and Google Apps. Connect the Nexus 5X to the computer and then copy the file over onto the SD card and then turn the handset off and disconnect the device.
Hold the power, volume up and volume down buttons to go into recovery mode and enter Fastboot or Bootloader. You should use the volume keys for navigating and power to choose.
Choose to backup and then make a Nandroid backup and then go into the main menu. Wipe the data by choosing wipe data/factory reset and then wipe the cache partition and delvik cache wipe.
You can then install the ROM to get Nougat onto your Nexus 5X and then install GApps and reboot the device. Congratulations you will now have Android Nougat on your device.
