It turns out the hope that our usual suspects – Pangu and TaiG – for releasing a jailbreak tool for the iOS 9.2, was idle. And had continued on staying so even as we move into 2016. But it seems like these two jailbreaking teams have a new contender, because this guy had managed to successfully jailbreak the iOS 9.2.1.
And perhaps we should thank Luca Todesco (an Italian developer, who also goes by @qwertoruiop) for realizing it recently (or more like hacking it); well, better late than never. As you can see from the screenshot he posted below, this puts rumours of “jailbreaking the iOS a mission impossible” to rest, since it has been quite talked-about in the rumour mill as of late. Though it’s worth noting that jailbreaking iOS 9.2 was much harder than its predecessor, the iOS 9.1, therefore, Todesco warns users of current iOS 9.1 to skip to the latest update, if possible.
Since there is no available jailbreaking tool for iOS 9.1 or later, there’s still the likelihood for either Pangu or TaiG to release a complete, untethered tool for iOS 9.2.1 after it goes public. So, let’s just be hopeful that we’ll be getting it soon.
