The Motorola DROID RAZR HD has been creating quite a buzz ever since the first rumors. If these rumors and various leaks are right then it’ll present stiff competition for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5, but one problem is the length of time before the RAZR HD will actually be out. We now know it could be as early as September 5 reports AndroidCommunity; news that’ll get consumers hot under the collar.
Motorola DROID RAZR HD release date just 1 week ahead of iPhone 5?
We know from feedback that readers are keenly awaiting the Motorola DROID RAZR HD, and have been hoping since the phone passed through the FCC that the release date would be imminent. However time dragged on and then we heard that the release would be in October or November, which was disappointing. A release this late would mean the phone may lose out to the big guys – the iPhone 5 in particular which is rumored to launch on September 12 – so this latest news is reassuring.
An AndroidCommunity report talks about the invites for a Motorola media event on September 5 that are being sent out. This event looks like it’ll see the unveiling of the Verizon Motorola DROID RAZR HD. The invites feature the words “Motorola: On Display”, which could be tipping the nod to the HD display. Verizon also features on the invite, at the bottom, making a RAZR HD reveal even more likely.
None of the specs and features are confirmed just yet, but the many rumors all point to a 4.6” 720p HD ColorBoost display, a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 chip, 4G LTE support and a 2530mAh battery. It’s also very likely to run on Ice Cream Sandwich with a JellyBean update in 2013. The only unknown quantity is the camera – for ages there’s been talk of a 13MP rear camera, but more recent rumors are of a somewhat disappointing 8MP camera. This isn’t certain either – but there’s not much longer to wait.
Even if this September 5 bash does unveil the RAZR HD, it doesn’t mean it’ll be out straight after – we may still have to wait until October or November. We do hope, however, that Motorola and Verizon put this phone into the hands of excited customers ASAP and definitely before the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release.
