Fans of the Corvette may or may not know that that GM is developing a supercar with a mid-engine. The vehicle should change the way that people see the Corvette but at the moment there hasn’t been any statement to explain the development of the vehicle.

One analyst said that he thought GM had chosen to make the mid-engine Corvette due to the Chevrolet Camaro. He said that perhaps GM was shaken up the ability of Ford to offer up the GT supercar and this got them interesting in building a competitor to the GT.

GM must then have found that they already had the chance when they realized that the latest 6th generation of the Camaro had the potential to offer up the same power with the Corvette.

GM will use the chance to move the Corvette to a different platform and this would be one that the Chevrolet Camaro couldn’t disturb.

The mid-engine Corvette will cost around $200,000 when it does get released and it is going to have to compete with the Acura NSX, Audi R8, Ford GT and the BMW i8.
