The HTC 10 is a superb handset but then so is the Microsoft Lumia 950. So how do the two compare against each other?
The HTC 10 comes with some superb improvements over the M9 and one of these is the display. The handset offers up a laser focus on the camera along with large aperture and sensor. But how does the handset measure up to the Microsoft Lumia 950, which has a great camera?
The resolution of the HTC 10 offers a lower resolution and the benefits to this include larger pixels for a less noisy photo. The Microsoft Lumia 950 offers a sensor and aperture size slightly smaller but it does have higher resolution and smaller pixels.
The HTC 10 has the ultrapixels while the Lumia has the Pureview technology, Carl Zeiss optics, OIS and oversampling.
The HTC 10 gives you the option of taking RAW files if you use the Pro mode on the camera along with saving DNG and JPEG just like the Microsoft Lumia 950.
The camera on the back of the handset is better on the Microsoft Lumia 950 and so it wins for this. The colors on the photos are more accurate and photos are better in low light on the Lumia.
Both the HTC 10 and Microsoft Lumia 950 have 5MP front camera and the one on the HTC comes with OIS. The HTC camera offers LED flash and Desire Eye and it comes out ahead thanks to the fact that the flash lights up the display.
In conclusion the camera on the Microsoft Lumia 950 does come out slightly ahead, which is a shame for the HTC 10 as it is a superb phone. However, the 950 does give it a high bar to beat.
