Microsoft Lumia 950, Galaxy S6 and iPhone S6: Tada..The Winner Is….

By  |

The Microsoft Lumia arrived on the market in competition with the likes of the iPhone 6S and the Samsung Galaxy S6. But has it been able to beat these handsets?

Up to now Microsoft have struggled when it comes to competing with Apple and Samsung, but perhaps things may be turned around with the Microsoft Lumia?

The display of the Microsoft Lumia 950 is 5.2 inches and this is 2560 x 1440 resolution and is QHD. The Samsung Galaxy S6 offers up the same resolution, however it is 5.1 inches. The smallest display is on the iPhone 6S at 4.7 inches and 1334 x 750 pixels. It has 3D Touch technology and iOS 9. We believe that the Microsoft Lumia 950 is the winner here.

The biggest battery is found in the Microsoft Lumia 950. The iPhone 6S comes with the 1715mAh battery and this is less than the previous version. The winner therefore has to be the Microsoft Lumia 950.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 offers the reversible USB Type C-Connector. The iPhone 6S comes with the Apple Lightning connector and the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a micro USB port. This means that there isn’t a clear winner for the connector.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 may be connected up to the Microsoft Display Dock and owners can then use it as a Windows 10 desktop computer. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6S doesn’t offer this so the winner has to be the Microsoft Lumai 950.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 comes with 32GB storage and you can boost this via SD card. The Samsung Galaxy S6 is offered in 32GB but no support for SD card. The iPhone 6S begins with 16GB but there is no expansion. Another win for the Microsoft Lumia 950.

The camera offering the most for megapixels is the Microsoft Lumia 950 and it can take superb photos in low light. It is better than the 16MP offered by the Samsung Galaxy S6 and also the iPhone 6S which is the 12MP camera. All phones offer a 5MP camera on the front.

You can get the Microsoft Lumia 950 for $549 and this happens to be $100 less than what you would pay out for the Apple iPhone 6S. The Samsung Galaxy S6 falls in the middle for the price tag at $579.99 for the 32GB version. Once again the win is taken by the Microsoft Lumia 950.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 has come out ahead in many of the categories, but would you choose it over the iPhone 6S or the Samsung Galaxy S6?

I really enjoy my 950. The battery is great and the weight is just right. I also purchased a leather back from Mozo and now I like my 950 even more! My only issues with the phone are actually with the software…..but I know it is improving every month. I don’t use a lot of apps so that is not an issue for me. But I know in the future that will be fixed. This will serve me well until there is a Surface phone. I may not get the first one….maybe wait until the 2nd generation so they work out all the bugs.

Nice to see that lumia’s hardware is competitive with last year’s popular products. Unfortunately it still runs an awkward op.
