Mercedes X-Class Isn’t Shown Any Favours For AMG Upgrade

By  |

Fans of pickup trucks will know all about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz X-Class. The vehicle is aimed at those looking for luxury with their pickup truck and so you can expect it to be packed with plenty of luxurious features, just the same as any other vehicle from the car maker.

However if you were hoping that it would come in the AMG variation in the near future then you are going to be disappointed as it’s not happening, at least not anytime soon.

In a recent interview it was confirmed that AMG doesn’t want anything to do with the Mercedes-Benz X-Class and worst still they didn’t give any reason why. If the rumours do prove to be true it may be down to the fact that the X-Class has the same DNA as the Nissan Navarra.

The underpinnings of the Nissan cannot be modified as they belong to Nissan and the architecture isn’t made for offering performance that is insane. This means that it is very unlikely that Mercedes are going to launch the X43 or the X64 AMG at any time in the near future.

So unless there happens to be a huge demand for a performance version of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class don’t expect to see AMG put their stamp on it.

This is a good thing, not bad.
AMG used to be (used to be) a performance badge of honor.

Today they have AMG versions of SUV’s – as though “high center of gravity”, “heavy”, and “performance” can even coexist.

All they really can do is put more horsepower under the hood and a suspension that’ll hurt your kidneys in a last-ditch effort to keep you from tipping over, and charge a discouraging amount of money to limit their liability for drivers who don’t understand physics.

They can do that in a Nissan frame just as well as a Mercedes one.
