Mercedes-Benz C-Class And BMW 3 Series Goes Head To Head!

By  |

There’s no doubt that the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class are two of the toughest rivals and they have been fighting to find out which comes out on top. For the unfamiliar, the Merc got a makeover last year but the BMW hasn’t been updated. So does it have what it takes to compete against the C-Class?

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers the 2 litre engine which comes with 4 cylinders and this offers up 241 horses. It offers around 24mpg if you drive it around the city and you should get 31mpg if you go out on the highway. It’s also available with a V6 3 litre engine which would give you 21mpg around the city and on the highway around 29mpg. The BMW 3-Series has the 2 litre turbocharged engine and this offers 240 horse power.

You should get about 35mpg out on the highway and about 23mpg when in the city. So which do you think comes out ahead, is it the BMW 3 Series or the Mercedes C-Class?

I took a hard look at both and as one would expect each had strengths and weaknesses. The C class has a far superior interior both in looks and quality but is much tighter in the rear seat and trunk. Both handle and accelerate quite nicely but the BMW feels more precise and speedy even if stats are about the same. In the end I went with the C class gaining everyday quietness and smooth ride while losing a little sporty feel. Pretty much personal preference though.
