Maserati EV Shoots For Porsche Mission E
It is looking like the Maserati EV wants to take on the Porsche Mission E as the engineering boss of Maserati revealed that parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles wants them to launch the EV as soon as possible.
It isn’t likely that we will see the Maserati EV in development before 2019 though and when it does arrive it isn’t going to be taking on the likes of Tesla, BMW and Audi. It has been said that the vehicle will be low volume and specialized and this leads us to think that it may be one of the most premium choices for an electric vehicle by the time it comes out in 2020.
Maserati said that they are going to be last to join the EV race but they will launch a vehicle that offers up something that is very different to others. The long wait may be an issue and the company realize that, however they said that they are not going to compromise on performance just so they can quickly bring the Maserati EV to the market.
The Maserati EV is going to have to meet the standards and we are expecting it to offer luxury and plenty of features. The downside is that by 2020 there are going to be newer vehicles from competitors on the market.
The delayed release of the Maserati may however be a smart move. This allows the company to sit back and watch what is happening with EV vehicles before launching their own.
If the Maserati EV lives up to the branding and it does offer something new and exciting then the wait is going to be all worthwhile.
