Well look what our correspondent from Japan has picked up. All those rumors of an LG Nexus 5 coming with “unrealistic specs” may actually have been accurate if the LG Optimus G Pro is anything to go by.
LG Optimus G Pro now official, could become basis for LG Nexus 5 in future
Japanese carrier DoCoMo has officially announced the LG Optimus G Pro and with it listed the official specs. As you may be aware, its predecessor the LG Optimus G was the basis for the LG Nexus 4 so if LG is given another shot at the Nexus, it will probably be based off this hardware (remember the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus following the Galaxy S & Galaxy S2?).
The LG Optimus G Pro boasts a 5-inch 1080p display, nearly no bezel, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage with microSDXC card slot, 3000mAh battery, 13MP rear camera and comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
Anyone else hoping LG gets a shot at the Google Nexus 5 now?
Keep in mind that this is just the Japanese version of the phone, and LG itself hasn’t even spoken of it officially. NTT DoCoMo customers will be able to pick up the Optimus G Pro in early April. Availability in other countries will probably come in future announcements. At least we can all hope.
