Nexus 4 vs Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5: Age Is Just A Number

By  |

Last year in May the Samsung Galaxy S3 was released and it became the most wanted handset. The Apple iPhone 5 was then released and then the LG Nexus was revealed. So which of these is the best device?

The LG Nexus 4 has the 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, while the Apple iPhone 5 has the A6 1.5GHz processor, and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a quad core internationally and in the US this is a dual core. The Apple iPhone 5 does happen to be the slowest device, however it does beat the iPhone 4S thanks to it having twice the speed. The LG Nexus 4 comes with 2GB and quad cores, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 has quad cores it only comes with 1GB of RAM. If you want 2GB of RAM then it has to be dual cores. The winner here therefore has to be the LG Nexus 4.

If you want an Android device nothing much can beat the LG Nexus 4 thanks to is having Jelly Bean 4.2. The Samsung Galaxy S3 also comes with Android in the form of ICS, which has been updated to Jelly Bean. If you want to be able to customise your device then it would have to be Android. However if you need a streamlined OS then it would have to be iOS. The LG Nexus would be the quickest to get updates, however the best OS would be down to what you want. In this case it would be a choice between the Apple iPhone 5 and the LG Nexus 4.

The LG Nexus 4 comes in the form of 8GB and 16GB, but it is let down by no external storage. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB and you can add in another 64GB via SD card. The Apple iPhone 5 comes in the same sizes; however there is no support for SD card. This would mean that if you want more storage it would have to be the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The LG Nexus 4 comes with a display of 4.7 inches and resolution of 1146 x 640 resolution and 218ppi. The Apple iPhone 5 has a 4 inch display and this comes with 306ppi and a resolution of 1136 x 640. While all handsets come with great screens but the IPS screen has more realistic colours, while the Super AMOLED displays can look over saturated. The LG Nexus 4 comes with the largest of the IPS displays and so this means it wins.

You can get up to 15 hours of life from the battery of the LG Nexus 4 with the battery being 2100mAh. The Apple iPhone 5 along with the Samsung Galaxy S3 may last up to 8 hours.

The LG Nexus 4 comes with measurements of 129 grams and is 133.9mmx68.7mmx9.1mm, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is 112 grams and it measures 136.6×70.6mmx8.6mm and the Apple iPhone 5 happens to be the lightest device. The Apple iPhone 5 is the winner here, however the LG Nexus 4 doesn’t come far behind it.

If it is NFC that you want on your handset then you can choose between the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the LG Nexus 4. If you need LTE it would have to be the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the Apple iPhone 5. If you have needs for both you have to get the Samsung Galaxy S3.

All of the phones have 8 megapixels cameras on the back. These typically support LED flash, autofocus and video recording at 1080p. The LG Nexus 4 has a camera on the front of 1.3 megapixels, while the Apple iPhone 5 has a camera of 1.2 megapixels on the front. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with a camera of 1.2 megapixels. All cameras come with their own thing. The LG Nexus 4 has Photo Sphere. The Apple iPhone 5 has a BSI sensor that is the best and the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with the option to take photo and video together. Thanks to it coming with the best BSI sensor, the Apple iPhone 5 is the winner.

The Apple iPhone 5 happens to be the easiest of the devices to use and it comes with some superb looks. If you are on a tight budget then you might choose the LG Nexus 4, however it doesn’t have much storage and there isn’t LTE. If you want a device that is an all-rounder you could choose the Samsung Galaxy S3 as it comes with some great features with a price tag that is fair.
