Nexus 4 vs iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3: We Have A Winner

Last May Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy S3, which went on to become the best-selling handset of 2012. This was then followed by the launch of the Apple iPhone 5 in September and then in November we saw the release of the LG Nexus 4. All are great devices but which is the best?

Processor: First to the processors of the handsets and the LG Nexus was released with the quad core processor from Qualcomm which is 1.5GHz. The dual core A6 processor was the choice of Apple in the Apple iPhone 5 and this is 1.2GHz. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the quad core Exynos chip internationally, while in the US this is the dual chip. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with the slowest of the processors, but it has twice the speed of the Apple iPhone 4S. The LG Nexus 4 offers the best combination as it comes with the four cores and it also had 2GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has four cores; however it has 1GB of RAM, while if you want 2GB of RAM you only get two cores. The LG Nexus with the best of both comes in as the winner.

OS: When it comes down to software the LG Nexus 4 has Jelly Bean 4.2., the Samsung Galaxy S3 has Jelly Bean 4.1 and the Apple iPhone 5 has iOS, which happen to be the most streamlined out of them all. However if you want customisation in a handset then you could choose Android. The LG Nexus 4, along with the Samsung Galaxy S3 has Android, however the LG Nexus 4 will generally get updates the quickest, thanks to the device being a Nexus handset. So therefore the winner has to be the Apple iPhone 5.

Style: When it comes down to design the LG Nexus 4 comes in at 129 grams and is 133.9mmx68.7mmx9.1mm. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is 133 grams, with measurements of 136.6×70.6mmx8.6mm and the Apple iPhone 5 weighs 112 grams and measures 123.8mmx58.6×7.6mm. For looks the Apple iPhone 5 happens to have the best, but the LG Nexus 4 is not far away, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 leaves a lot to be desired. The handset is the smallest and the lightest and so the Apple iPhone 5 has to be the winner.

Connectivity: For connections the Samsung Galaxy S3 along with the LG Nexus 4 both offer support for NFC. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5 have bot got LTE. Therefore if you want to take advantage of both of these it would have to be the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Camera: When it comes down to cameras the LG Nexus 4 has 8 megapixels which supports video at 1080p, autofocus and LED flash. There is also a camera of 1.3 megapixels on the front. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a camera of 8 megapixels too and this also supports autofocus and LED flash. It also has a front camera of 1.9 on the front. The Apple iPhone 5 camera is 8 megapixels and this is said to be excellent when in low light. There is also a 1.2 megapixel camera on the front. All of the cameras come with good and bad points. The LG Nexus 4 comes with Photo Sphere, the Apple iPhone 5 has a camera that is great in low light and it has the best BSI sensor, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 takes video and photos together. Thanks to the BSI sensor which is best in low light, the Apple iPhone 5 comes out as the winner.

Conclusion: The Apple iPhone 5 happens to be the easiest of the handsets to use and it has great looks. The LG Nexus 4 is the cheapest handsets and the hardware is great, however some things are not included in it but then you get a lot for your money. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is an all-round handset and it comes with many features along with a price that is pretty decent. So for balance all-round with a fiar price, it has to be the Samsung Galaxy S3 which takes the crown in the comparison.
