LG Nexus 4 Review: If It Walks Like A Duck…

The LG Nexus 4 leaked a couple of days ago and the first thing you will have noticed is that the front of the Jelly Bean phone is a dead ringer for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. On the back, the similarities end at the Nexus logo.

LG Nexus 4 review (prototype model)

Now while it walks like a duck, it certainly doesn’t act like one. This is because the LG Nexus 4 is apparently a prototype. So keeping that in mind, the Russian news outlet that first leaked the device has written a review of it.

In the review they mention that the benchmark scores were low, however it has the S4 Pro Snapdragon quad core processor in it. They also said that buttons often didn’t work and reboots happened, along with Beam not working. Again you have to bear in mind that the handset is after all only a prototype handset and it may not have the hardware it will eventually have, nor the final software. If anything it just has the Nexus looks.

The LG Nexus does look a lot like the Galaxy Nexus, with the exceptions of the speaker grille having being moved and the device having a rim around the edge of it. On the back there is no hump on the LG Nexus and it is slightly thinner and has an 8 megapixel camera and mosaic tile finish. There is no curve on the front screen of the LG Nexus. That of course is a Samsung thing.

The photos taken with the camera of the LG Nexus were nothing to shout about, however it is thought that this will not change drastically thanks to the stock Android being known to produce low end photos.

The display is superb and matches the screen of the iPhone 5. It is thought that the display will be the 4.7 inch HD IPS+ of the LG Optimus G. It is brighter than that of the iPhone 5 and has viewing angles that are excellent.

Overall bear in mind that the display is a prototype, there is that word again. At the moment there is nothing final about the handset apart from the design, processor (S4), display (4.7″), the camera sensor (8MP) and the RAM (2GB). The software may be updated and the rest of the hardware could change. Let’s just hope that it comes with more than 8GB of internal storage.
