Samsung boosted the waterproofing capabilities of their handsets last year and they launched the IP68 certified versions of the Samsung Galaxy S7 along with the S7 Edge. This meant that the devices could be put five feet under water and remain there for around half an hour.
It wasn’t long before Apple retaliated and they came up with the IP67 certified iPhones that could stay under three feet of water. Now Apple is said to be using the OLED display on the iPhone 8 and it would compete with the Samsung Galaxy S8 as the iPhone 8 would have IP68 certification.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is going to offer the waterproofing like the S7 and so both the S8 and the iPhone 8 will arrive with the same level of waterproofing.
It has also been suggested that Samsung is going to waterproof their entire line-up of devices and they will include the J series. Both phone makers will make use of tape instead of adhesive to make their devices waterproof.
