Three of the hottest rumored smartphones right now are the Samsung Galaxy S4, Apple iPhone 6 and the HTC M7. However the comparison we are running today is different than others as the devices are not set to come out until 2013 and as such there are no official specs. We don’t know the features of the devices and everything is based on leaks and rumours.
So what might they offer and which might come out the winner? Let the mythical comparison begin!
Samsung Galaxy S4 vs iPhone 6 vs HTC M7
The Samsung Galaxy S series of handsets and the Apple iPhones, are always some of the toughest devices that competitors have to beat. Each year a new release sees an on-going battle for which will be crowned the best. Next year shouldn’t be an exception with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4, which is said to be coming out possibly in March. Then of course the iPhone 6 is said to be coming out in the fall, or even the summer. The majority of attention will be on these two handsets, but there is another device coming out, and this could be serious competition for the two. This is the HTC M7.
So what might the devices offer us next year?
Samsung Galaxy S4: Rumour has it that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will have a camera of 12 or 13 megapixel and it will have a rear camera that has an illuminated sensor. The camera should provide 1080p and have stereo sound. It is also rumoured that the handset could have a display with a higher resolution and it could even be full HD i.e. 1080p. Samsung may also give the handset a larger battery to help it cope with the demands of usage.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 would have Google Chrome as the default browser; S Voice could have been improved upon as might Android Beam. The handset could have 2GB of RAM or even 3GB. Rumours have been conflicting about the display, with some saying that it could be one of the flexible displays too. This would bring something new to the series of devices and offer the premium look, along with feel, that you would expect on a flagship device. Some have also said that the processor may be a 2GHz quad core processor from Exynos, by way of the Cortex A15. It is also thought that the handset would have the latest OS, which may be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Wireless charging could be a possibility once again.
iPhone 6: The Apple iPhone 6 could arrive with iOS 7 and this would be an improvement for many people. It is thought that the handset would have the A7 quad core processor of Apple and the camera will have been improved. Some people have differing opinions about the display size. Apple boosted the display of the iPhone 5 from 3.5 inches to 4 inches and Apple could keep this resolution for their next gen iPhone. On the other hand 4 inches is small, when you compare it to phones that are being released. Apple may therefore choose to make the display even larger.
Apple may come up with something innovative. Many people thought this would happen with the iPhone 5, but it didn’t. However there were some subtle changes. Apple could choose Liquidmetal for the casing as this is very durable. The form factor could also be changed and new colour options have been mentioned. There could be an Apple iPhone 6 with 128GB of internal storage and it could support NFC. Wireless charging would be a welcome addition next year.
HTC M7: The HTC M7 has been rumoured since early this month and there has been a lot of positive things said about the handset. It is thought that HTC may release the device during Q1 of 2013 and it has been rumoured that HTC have already ordered between 4 and 5 million handsets. This suggests the importance of their flagship device. specs of the device include it having a Qualcomm 1.7GHz APQ8064 quad core processor, with a display of 5 inches in HD, a camera of 13 megapixel, connectivity for LTE and a unibody design in aluminium.
Other reports have said that the display would be 4.7 inches of HD with 468ppi. It has also been said that it could have 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and it will have the latest release of Jelly Bean, with the Sense 5 skin from HTC. The M7 name might only be the codename for the handset and this may change when it is released. The camera may be 13 megapixel with a new image sensor and it may be able to capture slow motion video. Both cameras on the handset could capture video at 1080p.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5 will both have success that is almost guaranteed. However the HTC M7 will be a viable contender to the two. Of course at the moment everything here is speculated and there is nothing official about the specs or features of the devices. In the end the choice of which device to go for could come down to which OS you prefer, Android or iOS, given that they all seem to very evenly matched in terms of hardware.
