Many people in the market for a new device believe they know what handset they will want based on the reputation of the manufacturer. Such is the case with popular products like the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3. Given the reputation of these devices, many people who are still on contract would have already made up their minds that come next year, they will get the successors to these great devices i.e. the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S.
Samsung Galaxy S4 & iPhone 5S rumors
The latest devices in the workings from Samsung and Apple have been given the names Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S, thanks to the past names; however it’s possible that these names could change. Apple for example may decide to call it the New iPhone.
When looking ahead to the launch of the iPhone 5S and the Galaxy S4, Samsung may be easier to predict than Apple. Fans of Samsung have had an idea of what processor will be in the S4 ever since the beginning of this year and this was reconfirmed last month, along with more specs of the upcoming handset claims Product-Reviews. There were even details given of the launch being on 25th February at MWC, and a release date of March or April.
Meanwhile Apple shocked fans when they revealed the iPad 4 within months of bringing out the last iPad. This means that Apple shouldn’t be underestimated when it comes to the release date of the iPhone 5S. We could see a new iPhone from Apple just 9 months after they released the iPhone 5. This of course would be better than the gap of just 7 months between their iPads, this year.
There are numerous reasons why Apple may wish to reveal the iPhone 5S at an event which they traditionally launched the handset from. There is the chance that Apple could see the second half of the year as being overcrowded. After all we saw them launch the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, iPad 4, 2012 iMac and the MacBook Pro in its 13 inch form all later in the year. Apple also said that they would prefer to spread out the launches of their new devices, so this could mean that the iPhone 5S may be launched at the traditional WWDC event in 2013.
Samsung are said to be rebranding themselves in 2013, thanks to the fact that Apple consider them to have been a thorn in their side in 2012. Reports have said that the Apple iPad lost half of the market share in Q3. This could have been down to fans waiting for the iPad Mini which had been rumoured. Apple of course revealed it along with the 4th gen iPad. Just a few years ago you would have said that it would have been impossible for anyone to catch up with Apple. However Samsung with the Galaxy S3 have done just that.
Of course Apple cannot be discounted just yet as plenty of fans will remain true to them; however Samsung and the Galaxy brand now have a following of their own. As PR points out, when they asked their 22,000 followers on Facebook whether they would get the Samsung Galaxy S4 or the iPhone 5S, the majority went for the Galaxy S4. This of course is very interesting due to the fact that at the moment very little is known about the specs of the device. This means that people are choosing the device based on the reputation alone.
