Can iPhone 5 Match The Samsung Galaxy S3?

By  |

There is not much on the market at the moment to beat the Samsung Galaxy S3. However this may change when Apple launches their latest iPhone, so could the iPhone 5 beat the Galaxy S3 when it is released?

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5

At the moment Apple has not let anything slip about the iPhone 5 and so we can only speculate about the specs of the new iPhone. The Samsung Galaxy S3 however comes with a 1280 x 720 display with 310ppi. The iPhone 5 could have a larger screen than previous models but it is thought that it will only be 4 inches at the most and 1280 x 720 with 367ppi.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is run by the dual core Snapdragon processor here in the US and the iPhone 5 may have the A5X processor. Both of these processors are superb and it will be down to benchmark tests to show us the winner by a hair strand.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 had the latest Android OS when it came out and the same should apply to the iPhone 5 when it comes out, so it should have iOS 6. The S3 may be updated to Jelly Bean before the end of the month but there is nothing concrete.

The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S3 is 8 megapixels and it comes with zero shutter lag and a burst mode. The iPhone 5 may also have a camera of 8 megapixels.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is available in 16 GB, 32GB or 64GB versions and they have support for an external SD card to boost storage. The iPhone 5 is not expected to support SD cards and it may be available in similar internal storage options so in terms of space, the S3 remains a winner.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with S Beam, S Voice, Pop Up Play and Smart Stay. The iPhone 5 could have Face Unlock, Siri 2, new Maps app, Passbook and many more features via iOS 6.

Which of the handsets is the best will come down to the fact of whether you want an Android OS handset or an iOS device as in terms of hardware and features, they will likely end up on the same level. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the most popular handset of the moment but this could all change with the release of the iPhone 5… as long as it is a bigger upgrade than the 4S was from the 4.
