Over at CNET the editors have crowned the Samsung Galaxy S3 as the best product of 2012, keeping it ahead of the iPhone 5 for this year.

They said that it took years of dominance by the iPhone and a lot of months of Android leadership for a Google run device to knock the iPhone from the top spot. According to them the iPhone 5 came in second, followed by the Nexus 7, the iPad Mini and the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.
However in the debate section this has sparked a great deal of comments. One comment said that they had a Samsung Galaxy S3 and thanks to it crashing more than they would like, they moved to the iPhone 5. The Galaxy S3 tends to be more complicated and it has more quirks than the Apple OS, which is more regulated, explained many commenters. Meanwhile Windows 8 from Microsoft was as the top of the list when it came to the most influential product. While at number 5 was the Replicator 3D printer from MakerBot.
