In 2012 we will see one of the biggest mobile phone battles ever between the Galaxy S3 from Samsung and the iPhone 5 from Apple. Did you pre-order the Galaxy S3 or are you hanging on for the latest edition to the iPhone?
At the moment the Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of the most innovative handsets but all this could change with the release of the upcoming iPhone 5. Thanks to MobileNApps here is a brief look at the specs of the S3 and those that have been rumored to be on the iPhone 5. Of course as there is no official news from Apple on their latest handset, hence these should be considered purely for the purposes of entertainment.
iPhone 5 rumors specs vs Samsung Galaxy S3
The S III comes with a superb 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display with 310 ppi and 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. It is thought that they iPhone 5 may have a Retina display of 1280 x 720 and have 367ppi and the new screen could be 4 inches.
In regards to processors, in the US the S3 has the 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon alongside 2GB of RAM, while internationally this is a quad core Exynos 1.4GHz with 1GB of RAM. It is thought that the iPhone 5 may have an A5X chipset, which is the one on the New iPad ‘3’.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has an 8 megapixel camera on the back with zero shutter lag, panoramic shooting and burst mode. It also comes with a camera on the front to make video calls. As the iPhone 4S has an 8 megapixel camera there is no reason why the camera on the new iPhone 5 should not be the same or better. It has been rumored that Apple may have improved on the shooting abilities in low light conditions.
The S3 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options with microSD card slot. While the iPhone should have similar choices for storage internally, it will not have external storage, as no other iPhone to date has it.
The S3 comes with Android 4.0 and it has the Touch Wiz overlay and it is thought that the iPhone 5 should come with iOS 6. Features on the S3 include S Voice, S Beam, Smart Stay and Pop up Play. The iPhone 5 is expected to have Siri 2.0, Universal Remote Control and Face Lock, along with plenty of other features. It is thought that the S3 will be updated to the Jelly Bean OS some time towards the end of this year.
The S3 comes with 4G LTE support and it is thought that the new iPhone may also have support for it too just like the New iPad does.
Should the iPhone be all that it has been suggested to be then those looking for a new phone could have a tough decision to make. If you are in the market for a new handset right now then you cannot get better than the S4. However if you have time to wait, you may wish to wait and see what else Apple has up its sleeve for its upcoming iPhone 5 flagship.
