The iPhone 5 runs on the latest iOS, iOS 6 while the iPhone 4S comes with iOS 5 but can be upgraded to iOS 6. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is behind at the moment as it still has ICS Android 4.0 and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is out. The update is said to be coming soon. So at the moment if you want the latest OS on a handset, it has to be the iPhone 5 or 4S.
The battery on the iPhone 5 is said to provide around 8 hours of talk time, while the 4S battery gives around the same. The Samsung Galaxy S3 on the other hand has the largest battery, providing around 11 hours of talk time.
The iPhone 5 is an improvement over the iPhone 4S, however the iPhone 4S is still a great buy as it can be updated with iOS 6. If you prefer a larger display then the Samsung Galaxy S3 may win you over.
