The iPhone 5 is set to make its way to the market very soon and excitement over the handset is mounting. Samsung at the moment are the leaders with the Galaxy S3, but they are by no means the only competition that Apple has. Nokia, HTC and Sony all offer devices with superb features and designs that are trying to take a bite out of Apple and LG believe that their Optimus G may be able to beat the upcoming iPhone 5.
LG promises “Optimus G will destroy iPhone 5”
Yesterday LG finally released some of the phone’s features and specs. The handset will have a quad core which has been clocked at 1.5 GHz and has the Adreno 320 processor and SoC APQ8064 chip.
The handset also has the latest in-cell technology which the new iPhone 5 is also said to have. The display of the LG phone will not be the same however but it is very close and allows the device to be thinner. LG are calling this tech the G2 Touch Display. it is thought that the display will be 3mm thick and the screen will be 1280 x 768 with 317 ppi and may be around 4.7 inches.
LG have said that the handset will come with 2GB RAM, have a battery of 2100 mAh and a 13-megapixel camera. The handset would be thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S3 at 8.5mm but it would be slightly heavier at 145 grams. The downside is that the handset will have Android 4.0 ICS instead of Jelly Bean but an update is expected to come along shortly after.
Interestingly, LG has been quoted by The Examiner as saying that, “the Optimus G will destroy the iPhone 5”. We can certainly see that is does have solid specs under its belt. But LG should know by now that to beat the iPhone, it isn’t just about specs.
The handset will be on sale in Korea and Japan first in September and it is then expected to be released around the US in late 2012.
