Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S3 last year in May and the handset quickly reached the top of the best-seller charts. The Apple iPhone 5 was revealed in September and then the LG Nexus followed on in November. But which is the best of the handsets?
The LG Nexus 4 has the Qualcomm processor of 1.5GHz, while the Apple iPhone has the dual core 1.2GHz processor. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the Exynos processor which is quad core internationally and dual core in the US. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with the slowest processor, but you have to bear in mind that this is twice as fast as that of the Apple iPhone 4S. The LG Nexus 4 comes with quad cores and it also has 2GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a quad core device, but is has just 1GB of RAM and the dual core processor has 2GB of RAM. As it comes with the best of both of these devices, the LG Nexus 4 is the winner.
The LG Nexus 4 comes with pure Android, Jelly Bean 4.2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has Jelly Bean 4.2, updated from Ice Cream Sandwich. The Apple iPhone 5 has iOS6 and this is the most streamlined of the operating systems. You should be able to push the battery of the LG Nexus to 15 hours talk time thanks to the battery of 2100mAh. The Apple iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 both offer around 8 hours. AnandTech tested the handsets and they said that the Apple iPhone 5 was the best, the Samsung Galaxy S3 was just behind and the LG Nexus tagged along in last place.

Conclusion: The Apple iPhone 5 should be the easiest of the three devices to get a hang of and it has the best design. The LG Nexus 4 gets points for the price of the handset and the fact that it has great hardware, however it does lack when it comes to some features like LTE and storage. The all-round winner is the Samsung Galaxy S3 as this has a good balance of price and features.
