iPhone 5 vs Nexus 4 vs Galaxy S3: Which Should You Buy?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 came out in May last year and it was a success. Apple then revealed the Apple iPhone 5 in September and LG launched the LG Nexus 4 in November. But which of these devices comes out on top?

The LG Nexus 4 happens to have the 1.5Ghz processor while the Apple iPhone 5 comes with the dual core 1.2GHz, and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has the quad core internationally and the dual core in the US. The Apple iPhone 5 is the slowest but it has twice the speed of the Apple iPhone 4. The LG Nexus 4 has quad cores and it also has 2GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is also a quad core; however it has 1Gb of RAM. It comes with 2GB in the US but then it has dual cores. The LG Nexus 4 comes with both of these and this makes it the winner.

The LG Nexus 4 runs on Jelly Bean 4.2 pure Android, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 has ICS but the handset has been updated to Jelly Bean 4.2 The Apple iPhone 5 have the latest iOS6, and this is streamlined. On the other hand if you want customisation that you need then one of the Android devices. Of course the LG Nexus 4 has pure Android and this handset will get updates quicker. However this is down to personal choice and so the best devices to choose from are the Apple iPhone 5 and the LG Nexus 4.

The LG Nexus is available in either 8GB or 16GB however it lacks SD card support. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage, with the possibility of adding on another 64GB by SD card. The Samsung Galaxy S3 therefore has to win here.

The LG Nexus 4 with a True HD IPS display which is 4.7 inches and comes with a resolution of 1136 x 640 and 318ppi. The Apple iPhone 5 screen is 4 inches and this has a resolution of 1136 x 640 with 206ppi. The Samsung Galaxy S3 offers the biggest display of 4.8 inches and it comes with 306ppi and resolution of 1280 x 720p. All handsets come with screens that are great and the most suitable one would all depend on what you would personally like. On the IPS screen colours tend to be most realistic, while the Super AMOLED screen can look over saturated and there are some people that consider it hyper real. The LG Nexus 4 has the biggest of the IPS screens which means that it is the winner.

15 hours of talking thanks to the 2100mAh battery of the LG Nexus is average. The Apple iPhone 5 on the other hand will give around 8 hours, which is the same as with the Samsung Galaxy S3. AnandTech did tests which prove that the battery of the Apple iPhone 5 is better, with the Samsung Galaxy coming in close second and LG Nexus taking up the rear.

The LG Nexus measures 133.9mmx68.7mmx9.1mm and has a weight of 129 grams and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is 136.6×70.6mmx8.6mm with a weight of 112 grams. The Apple iPhone 5 is the winner as it has the best looks; but the LG Nexus 4 doesn’t come in that far behind.

Anyone wanting NFC has the choice between the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the LG Nexus 4. If LTE is what you want you can choose between the Apple iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. If you want both of these then it has to be the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The LG Nexus 4 comes with an 8 megapixel camera which has support for autofocus and it can record video at 1080p, in addition it has a camera of 1.3 megapixels. The Samsung Galaxy S3 features a camera of 8 megapixels, this too has autofocus and LED flash plus a camera of 1.9 megapixels on the front. The Apple iPhone 5 gives owners a camera of 8 megapixels and it has a 1.2 on the front of it. The cameras all have something to call their own. The LG Nexus 4 give you Photo Sphere while the Apple iPhone 5 takes the best photos in low light and finally the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the best for capturing photos and video together. Thanks to the Apple iPhone 5 having the best BSI sensor it comes in as the winner.

Out of all the handsets the Apple iPhone 5 happens to be the easiest of the three to use and it has a design that is great. The LG Nexus 4 takes points for the price and hardware, however it doesn’t come with LTE and there is no decent storage solutions. If you are looking for a device that is an all-rounder you would have to go for the Samsung Galaxy S3 as it has a decent price and many features.
