iPhone 5 vs HTC One X: If Looks Could Kill

By  |

With the Apple iPhone 5 finally revealed we can now put it up against the HTC One X and see how it matches up.

iPhone 5 vs HTC One X

The HTC One X has a Tegra 3 dual core 1.5GHz processor. The iPhone 5 on the other hand is run by the A6 chip of Apple. Apple of course always likes to keep the chip speed to themselves and all they said was that apps now open twice as fast. Apple may mention quad core if they brag, but this is in relation to the graphics chip so we are likely looking at a dual-core chip just like the One X. Apple also didn’t provide any information about the nanometers.

The resolution of the iPhone 5 has changed to 16:9 and of course the screen is 4 inches. The HTC One X comes with a display of 1240 x 720 while that of the iPhone is 1136 x 640. The Retina screen of the iPhone 5 is good but it will be hard to beat the LCD 2 of the HTC One X.

The HTC One X comes in 32GB for the Tegra model while the iPhone 5 is available in choices of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

The battery is one of the main concerns in any smartphone and both of the devices work on the LTE network. The HTC One X has a battery of 1800mAh and Apple has again given no information on the battery other than it will give around 8 hours of life using 3G or LTE. However surely this is not possible as the 4G LTE service should use the battery faster. If we take Apple’s bluff on that then it is ahead though as the HTC One X can’t survive 8 hours on LTE in our test.

Both of the devices come with a camera of 8 megapixels and can take photos while taking video. The HTC One X can also take photos during playback, there is no mention of the iPhone 5 doing this.

Owners of the previous models of HTC phones are able to use their old cables for the HTC One X but this is not the case with the iPhone 5 as the dock connector has been changed. This means that you will have to pay $30 to Apple to get an adapter if you wish to use your older accessories. The One X sticks with the standard port found on Android devices.

There are many reasons why the HTC One X comes out on top when up against the iPhone 5. However there is no getting away from the fact that the iPhone 5 is the best iPhone to date and will outsell the HTC One X. Specs aside, the HTC One X will appeal to fans of Android while the iPhone 5 will keep iOS fans happy. There is just one thing we can agree on, both of these devices have killer looks that easily outshine any other smartphone on the market.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
