iPhone 5 vs BlackBerry Z10 vs Galaxy S3: Who Da Boss?

Blackberry has totally overhauled the Blackberry OS with their release of BB10 and the company are hoping that new life will be breathed into the struggling company. The first device to come with the new OS is the Blackberry Z10 and therefore it would be interesting to compare it with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5.

The Blackberry Z10 was revealed yesterday and it is out in the UK today and will be in Canada on 5th February. However customers in the US may have to wait until late March for the device on all of the main carriers. The Samsung Galaxy S3 can be purchased now on many carriers around the world and so can the Apple iPhone. At this moment we cannot compare every specs and features of the devices due to them all having so many different things to offer. So for now we will concentrate on the main specs.

The Z10 comes with the dual core Snapdragon 1.5GHz Krait processor and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has the 1.4GHz Exynos quad core A9 Cortex processor. The US variety has the 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual core S4 processor. The Apple iPhone 5 has the Apple A6 dual core 1.2GHz processor.

The display of the Z10 is 4.2 inch touch with 355ppi and resolution of 1280 x 768. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a Super AMOLED display of 1280 x 720 resolution and it offers 306ppi, whole the Apple iPhone 5 has 326ppi and resolution of 1136 x 640 on its 4 inch display.

The Blackberry Z10 offers 2 GB of RAM and it comes with 16GB of storage internally, this can be expanded to 64GB by microSD card. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has 1 GB of RAM internationally and 2GB in the US, it comes with choices of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of storage and can be boosted to 64GB. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with 1GB of RAM and is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of storage but it cannot be expanded by SD card.

The camera on the Z10 is 8 megapixels and this can take video at 1080p and it also comes with image stabilisation. There is also a 2 megapixel camera on the front. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a camera of 8 megapixels that can take video at 1080p. There is also a 1.9 megapixel camera on the front. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with a camera of 8 megapixels and there is also a 1.2 megapixel camera on the front.

The Blackberry Z10 has the new OS and it is the first device to come with the OS. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and it has the Samsung TouchWiz overlay. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6, which can be updated to iOS 6.1.

The cost of the Blackberry Z10 will vary depending on where you live. In the US you can get it for around $599 unlocked or you could get in on contract for $199. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is $570 unlocked, with Amazon and it will cost around $199 on a contract of two years. The Apple iPhone 5 comes in at $199 on contract or you can get it unlocked for around $649. So all devices are pretty much the same in price.

All three of the handsets are on 4G LTE if you can get it and each have unique features and capabilities of their own. Each of the devices is great in their own rights and if you don’t favour one OS over the other then you have some great choices. The design of the handset may factor in and the most suitable for you will depend on what OS suits your taste.
