Sharp has been purportedly making screens for the new iPhone 5 and there is a rumor going around that they have been faced with costs that are higher than expected. There is also the rumor going around that production of the displays could fall behind if Apple doesn’t hand over extra money for the iPhone 5 screens claim iMore.
iPhone 5 release date may be delayed due to production issues
Rumor has it that Sharp is struggling with costs and that this could cut down their profit margins. So could Apple provide financial incentive for them to speed up the production of their screens? It seems that with them leaking out the fact that they are designing the screens for Apple it could be a way of them saying to Apple that it would be a huge shame if they couldn’t produce the screens on time.
Apple of course had supply problems with the iPhone 4 and the iPad, these were blamed on displays not being available. However when the iPhone 4S and the iPad 3 came onto the scene it was a different case with Apple rolling out the devices to more countries faster than they had done before.
The new iPhone 5 is said to have in-cell technology for the screen which means that it would be one single layer of just 0.5mm thick. Production is said to have been ramped up but it is possible that the screens could affect how Apple release the iPhone 5. So for now we will just have to wait for 12th September to come around when the iPhone 5 is rumored to be launching.
