iPhone 5 users could be upset when they don’t find the untethered jailbreak in their Christmas stocking this year, nor those running other Apple devices on iOS 6. The latest update from developers is that the jailbreak shouldn’t be expected soon; more than likely it will be weeks to months away.
iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak nowhere ready
ProductReviews first reported this news and this is a huge disappointment for fans of the iPhone 5 and iOS 6, as it was rumoured that the jailbreak might be coming out last Monday, but of course it didn’t.
Word came out that a member of the Dev Team had a partial jailbreak; posixninja as he is known on Twitter claimed that he was making headway and fans thought that the jailbreak would be out by no later than Black Friday. However he now says that the process of jailbreaking has been slowed down due to ridiculously advanced protections on iOS 6.
While the jailbreak isn’t even close to being released more websites are popping up online offering the untethered jailbreak. However these are just scammers wanting to make a fast buck. You should be careful about what you download and never give money to anyone who claims to have the untethered jailbreak.
The latest site making the claim is EasyUnlockiPhone. They said that they have the untethered jailbreak for the iOS 6 devices which include the iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and the 4S. They want $24.99 and promise support and 30 day money back guarantee.
While this hasn’t been tested, it is thought that as there isn’t a jailbreak right now, the website is just another scam.
At the moment the only devices that have been jailbroken are the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch 4G. If you own either of these then you can install Redsn0w.
