The iPhone 5 and iOS 6 launched last September, and we’re still waiting for the jailbreak. Massive security means dev teams are chasing their tails!
iPhone 5 & iOS 6 untethered jailbreak release date by summer
The well-known hacker Pod2g, one of the more talkative members of the Chronic Dev team since Absinthe, has got some important information to share. He had an interview with Sebastien Page of iDownloadBlog, in which he explained what the latest situation with the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak was. He also went into what hacking actually means on a day-to-day basis.
Pod2g also said that he expected an iOS 6 jailbreak within six months:
I’m very confident about the next 6 months. I honestly believe that iOS 6 will be jailbroken and that developers will keep coming up with more quality apps. Discussions about future tweaks during JailbreakCon have opened new doors. Creativity won’t stop.
So, despite the complaints about iOS 6.1’s ludicrous security levels, they’re not insurmountable, and there’s still hope of an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and iPhone 5 users. We’ll have to wait and see.
